CAUSES OF ASTHMA IN BABIES

Asthma is caused when the airways become inflamed and filled with mucus and then they are exposed to triggers causing asthma attacks. There are various factors and causes which affect the babies and they are:-

• Viruses
• Sinus infections
• Changes in temperature and many more causes

SYMPTOMS OF ASTHMA IN BABIES

• Blood and allergy tests
• Spirometry which is a kind of an instrument which will measure the air taking in and going out of the lungs
• Chest X-rays

TREATMENT OF ASTHMA

The babies should be taken care in case they have asthma. The treatment depends on two factors –

• Environmental control
• Medication

Environmental factors play a vital role in causing asthma in babies so they should be kept away from these factors which can cause asthmatic attacks.

Medication is the best treatment to treat the asthma patient. Medication varies from person to person. The right dose of drug should be given to the baby which depends upon severity, frequency of each patient. When the babies have mild asthma then medication is required before they are exposed to triggers.

If asthma is severe, the baby should be given medicine daily such as Anti-allergy drugs, Bronchodilators and Corticosteroids to prevent them from the serious disease asthma. In case factors like environmental control and medication are failed then immunotherapy is best for babies.

PREVENTIONS OF ASTHMA

The mother can take the following preventions to keep the babies healthy and prevent them from asthma. These preventions are:-

• Keep the babies away from the smoke caused by cigarette and due to air pollution.
• Their exposure to dust mites should be limited.
• A fireplace or wood stove should be avoided as the smoke coming out of them can irritate the baby’s respiratory system.
• If the babies have some allergy from any pet or other things so they should be kept away from them.
• Exposure to viruses should be limited by giving the babies a good hygiene.

CONCLUSION

According to scientists view point, increase in asthma is caused due to increase in air pollution. This is right to some extent but there are other factors also which are causing asthma in babies.
